Fun toy on a slow day
Guys, I usually do not do this, but I found an absolutely awesome toy
to play with on the computer. I would highly recommend checking it
out. It's free.
You know how AIM allows you to voice chat over the Internet? Software
from www.skype.com allows the same, but it works much better and also
does things like 5 person voice conferences. Yes Keith, it does work
on a Mac. However, a fast Internet connection is recommended.
The software also allows for super cheap long distance phone calls
even to normal phones. Calling Holland is about $1.5 an hour, Mongolia
is around $5 an hour. I will admit I have not tested the phone calling
yet, but if it is anything like the normal voice chat over the
Internet, it should work great. I was chatting with Christine, Bryan
Stinski, and Elysa Dickinson all at the same time (Bry and Elysa were
in Lansdale at the time).
If you do not have a microphone for you computer, Walmart has a good
$9 desk mic from Labtec. Headphones are recommended to reduce echo.
One of the reasons I mention this is because I think it would work
excellent if we ever wanted to chat with any of the missions people we
support. I think some of those missions people could also use it to
call home.
Enjoy. If anyone wants to test it out with me let me know.
Andrew
